Josh Pahigian cited as baseball expert in Providence Journal column

Josh Pahigian, M.F.A., adjunct faculty member in the 海角社区 Center for Global Humanities, is featured in a Providence Journal article about the Pawtucket Red Sox鈥 proposed relocation to Providence.

Columnist Edward Fitzpatrick notes that Pahigian鈥檚 latest book, 101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out, 2nd Edition, ranks McCoy Stadium the 33rd best baseball site in America for fans to visit, and uses Pahigian鈥檚 expert insight throughout the piece to provide context related to national trends in minor league ballpark construction projects and relocations.

Pahigian argues against the Triple-A Red Sox affiliate鈥檚 proposed move, explaining that the trend of minor league teams building new stadiums that are miniature versions of big league parks has diminished the uniqueness and charm of the minor league game. Pahigian states, 鈥淸McCoy Stadium] has that old-time nostalgia and charm, but it also modernized really well.鈥
